It amuses us when you plant us in straight lines
as if we’d ever grow that way ourselves.
What natural path do you know that looks that way?
We understand that seeing a straight path helps you feel more secure
in a world of unexpected twists and turns.
We have no choice in the moment but to contribute to your collective delusion that you can control your world
by arranging nature to help you feel safe.
Over time, however, you will notice that our children do not follow your rules, and the lines you so carefully created
will be gone long before you are.
We suspect that it is the same with your children –
they will not follow your artificial straight paths
but will become authentic with many curves and turns
in spite of the way you try to mold them.
